In Thursday’s local elections 13.4 per cent of voters in wards where a Green candidate was standing voted for us. In Falkland ward 17.5 per cent of voters voted for the Green candidate. We were ahead of Labour in nine out of 11 wards we stood in, beat UKIP in two wards, and beat one of the Lib Dem candidates in two two-seat wards. In Downlands we came second to the Conservatives, beating the Lib Dems and Labour. This has laid a firm foundation for the Greens in Newbury and West Berkshire, which we will build upon with local campaigns. If you would like to join us email newburygreens@mail.com
