West Berkshire Green Party campaigns for environmental and social justice. There is no greater threat to society and the natural world than climate change.
In May 2019, West Berkshire Council declared a climate emergency as a result of a petition brought forward by the Green Party, meaning that the district will be carbon neutral by 2030. This is the most significant action undertaken by the council.
We created the Save Our Services (SOS) campaign, which helped to save our local libraries and other public services. We led the campaign against the garden bin charge – which we regard as a tax on recycling. Our members campaign about mental health, homelessness, education and other issues that really matter to local people.
Every time we fight an election locally we have increased our vote share. We are the most visible political party in West Berkshire – in the media nearly every week, and out in our communities building links with people and campaigning on a range of issues.
We are a friendly, feisty and creative group, from all backgrounds and ages, and we welcome new members and supporters.
Please take a look around our website to learn more about us and get in touch – we would love to hear your thoughts. If you’d like to get involved, then please join the party!
